LATVIA (INS)—Latvian Evangelical Mission—a ministry Intercede recently started working with—has two urgent needs. Dr. Yanis Smits—an Intercede board member originally from Latvia—reports, “Brothers and sisters, we have two or three prayer needs. Those are very urgent because of an economical crisis in our country. We need to prepare food hampers for poor families—where there would be food and some other household needs. In that hamper, there would be things like salt, sugar, flour, oil, canned food, margarine, bread, potatoes, milk, soap, toothpaste. For one such hamper per month the price would be about $70 for one family. At this point, we have 25 families in very great need.
“The other need that we have is transport expenses for our missionaries. We need to repair our vehicles, and to buy fuel, in order to visit those churches which are in the vicinity, and also to visit those families that are living very separate—some even 100 km from one another. Mostly, the roads are without asphalt, with many great potholes. Cars always are being wrecked. We need to repair them. In one month, generally, we need $250 to $300 for that.” Please pray for God’s provision of these needs.
