In partnership with Intercede’s Living Word Ministries work in Haiti, Intercede is pooling and raising support for the suffering Haitian communities after a devastating magnitude 7.3 earthquake which hit Haiti on January 12, devastating this tiny island nation and killing tens of thousands of people. The leaders of Intercede’s Living Word Ministries work in Haiti were severely injured in the earthquake, but are receiving good medical care. Please pray for their healing. Making inroads for Jesus Christ in Indonesia is a challenging task. Evangelical Christians are only about four percent of the population. Open preaching of the Gospel is strictly regulated in Indonesia, and the construction of new church buildings is limited in many areas. In the midst of this restrictive environment, God has called the workers of Intercede’s Oneness, Fullness, Witness to serve Him. Pray for God’s protection of them, and for God’s inspiration in their ministry.

In 1969 a ministry leader held the first Bible college class in a rented house with six students. Since then about 2,000 students have graduated from Intercede’s Bharat Bible College’s fully accredited seminary with most dedicating their lives to serve the Lord. Their ministry network wants to conduct two medical camps, each one treating up to 700 poverty-stricken patients. Pray that the Lord will provide the needs for both ($530 each), and that these tangible expressions of Christ’s love will open many hearts to hear and accept the Gospel.

A well-recognized and respected Burmese ministry, Intercede’s Witnessing For Christ, reports that the demand for their Christian literature continues to increase. Even in a largely non-Christian nation, their tracts remain an effective way to share the Gospel. Last year this ministry printed and distributed more than 2.5 million Gospel tracts. This year they want to double that number. Pray that the Lord will make provision for the printing costs (one million tracts=$3,200) and that many will come to know and accept the Saviour.

“My local congregation is growing,” writes a native missionary with Intercede’s Serving Jesus Christ Mission. “Seventeen people accepted Christ as Saviour and three were baptized.” Twelve SJC congregations are praying for Sunday school and discipleship training materials for children and adults ($160 per congregation). Give thanks for new believers added to the Lord and pray for resources to help them grow in their faith.

“Pray for the city of Jos in Nigeria,” requests Gabriel Barau, leader of Intercede’s Missionary Crusaders Ministry. “Jos is the only major Christian city in the north of Nigeria that Islam has continually targeted.” Because of recent violent clashes between Muslims and Christians, “right now 200,000 are homeless and we need urgent help to assist people whose homes are burnt and some relations killed. This is a serious crisis even though army has taken over the city for now. We need your urgent prayers that the Lord will provide for the needy and homeless.”

Pray for the provision of 10,000 Ukrainian and Russian language Bibles ($2 each) which are needed as part of follow-up ministry to more than 50,000 people who wrote in to Intercede’s Good Samaritan Mission in 2009 after listening to evangelistic radio broadcasts. The Lord touched their hearts and they have written asking for Bibles. The broadcasts are heard weekly over 1,000 stations in Belarus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.

Intercede’s Missionary Churches of Nicaragua need to acquire a motorboat for transportation along riverbank communities. Right now they depend on others for travelling and the trips can become very expensive (cost is about: $4,000). Please pray.

“We are trying to raise the funds both for the construction of the National Convention Centre and headquarters building and for the cost of the 60th convention in 2010,” writes Rev. David Moreno, leader of Intercede’s Churches of the Open Bible. “About $100,000 is needed.” Pray for God’s provision.

The “My Family” Care Centre, run by Intercede’s Father’s House ministry, has yielded excellent results in the work with orphans and children at risk by applying the practical example of the value of a family. By demonstrating Christian principles within the confines of the family unit, the children are taught how to live accordingly and they learn to apply them in their own future families. For instance, children are taught financial responsibility within the family by learning how to keep to a budget and spend money wisely. Pray that God will bless and provide for this program.

“Please remember our need in the city house churches movement,” requests Dorothy Sun, of Intercede’s China Mission. “There are currently more than 120 co-workers each needing living allowances of $100 to $200 per person each month (different cities have different costs of living) plus support for their children.”

Pray that the Lord will grant Intercede’s Churches of Ayacucho missionaries wisdom, anointing and needed support to continue sharing the Gospel. Core areas of their work are: evangelizing the Quechua tribal people, helping poor Quechua widows with basic needs, providing Bibles for believers, and building churches for Quechua believers.

Intercede’s Banjara Tribal Ministries takes care of hundreds of desperately needy children. Pray for funds needed to build new orphanages and expand current ones, to help hundreds more Banjara orphans.

“We are blessed to have Roger Brown [Assistant Camp Director] onboard with us,” reports Ross Maracle, Director of Intercede’s Camp Ohahaseh. “He is a general contractor who stands ready to volunteer his skills throughout the winter. However, the dilemma is that we need about $18,000 to finish the interior of the building. We also owe $4,800 on windows and doors.” Pray for Camp Ohahaseh's ongoing construction projects and the funds needed.

Intercede’s Turkish Mission plans to have a large Mother's Day celebration in May 2010. “I think the best way to win the war on terrorism is to evangelize and minister to the women,” asserts Kaya, leader of Turkish Mission. “At the Mother’s Day church service we encourage them in their lives, sing praise and worship, tell them how much Jesus loves them, and give them a New Testament.” Pray for God's blessings and provision for TUM's plans for its Mother's Day outreach.

“The ministry needs a vehicle (preferably a van) to transport our Bible school students to and from the different schools where they conduct Bible studies regularly,” explains Renato Del Mundo, leader of Intercede’s Student Missionary Outreach. “We have difficulties also to find a lot of land without a vehicle to use. Commuting in areas outside the city is difficult especially because of the limited public transport and is time-consuming.”

Sunday schools are a very effective way to reach entire families in China. When a child wants to go to Sunday school, often the whole family goes along. Intercede’s China Mission children's Sunday School training ministry in four provinces is undergoing severe hardship and pressure. Pray for their financial needs and spiritual encouragement.

“Jordan has become home to more than 800,000 refugees,” reports Isam Ghattas, leader of Intercede’s Manara Book Ministries. “It has been several years since the Iraqi war started, and it seems as though most have forgotten the state of Iraqi refugees. However, the situation is still painstakingly difficult. They are stuck, waiting.” Pray for provision for MBM’s work with refugees in the Middle East—especially for food parcels and heaters for them.

Clean drinking water is in short supply in southern Sudan. Intercede’s Southern Sudan Mission needs to drill another borehole well to provide clean drinking water to its workers and the orphans in the ministry’s care. “We are requesting Christian friends to pray for us,” requests SSM leader John Okumu.

A major project that Intercede’s Grace Evangelical Mission has started is a new GEM Headquarters. “We’ll be raising $57,000 for the project,” reports GEM leader Arnold Quinsay. Please pray that this need will be met.

“We have developed a project for 15 church-based orphanages,” reports William Johnson, leader of Intercede’s Pakistan Gospel Assemblies. “We have constructed these orphanages. We need to bring in the children. It is a project that we need some financial assistance with. Each home has 12 children. One home can be sponsored with $625 per month. We need support for a parent couple so that they can take care of the children.” Please intercede for these children.

“I plea and pray that many able Christians would share the feeding program in our organized Home-Based Neighbourhood Program to 21 medium-rise buildings for children from two to three-and-one-half years old,” writes Ruth Palma, leader of Intercede’s Smoky Mountain Ministries.” Though we have a big heart for this, yet our pocket is empty. May these 420 little children and their parents be reached for Jesus.” Pray for $520 per month to feed 420 young students each weekday.

Gradually, Canada is pulling out of a serious recession, but Intercede’s regular financial support is still down considerably. Please pray that Intercede’s global missions fund will be replenished so that this mission and its staff can do their best to serve the Lord to the maximum.
